If you are going to blog, original content and consistency is key. Once you start blogging, Google pays attention to the frequency of how often you grow your website through fresh content. 

TIP:  Twice a week at 300 words minimum is a good place to start. 

Also, your posts do not have to be just about the industry you are in. You can personalize a post by making it hyper-local and even about events you have attended.
